Novice Area
Sailing area · CSC Operating Rules B.1
Where Novice windsurfers and Novice skippers sail, in wind under 10 knots: the water in the South Sailing Basin north of Hs Lordships restaurant and west of the 3rd dock, 100 yards off any downwind shore.
- Who may sail here
- Novice Windsurfer (wind under 10 kt) and Novice Skipper (wind under 10 kt, single-hand or one club member). Single-handing a dinghy after dark outside this area needs another CSC boat.
- Rule
- CSC Operating Rules, section B.1
Boundaries
100 yards from any downwind shore, north of Hs Lordships restaurant, and west of the 3rd dock. (Usually the shores here are upwind or sidewind because the wind is from the west, but in south or east wind there can be downwind shores.)
How the map draws it
Water in the basin north of an east-west line through Hs Lordships and west of a north-south line through the 3rd dock, using the NOAA chart shoreline. The restaurant and 3rd-dock positions are estimates; check them on the aerial photo.
Drawn from the CSC Operating Rules on NOAA chart data. Where the map and the rules differ, the rules apply. The official version is on the club's Sailing Areas page.
